DMMA College of Southern Philippines (DCSP) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Asian Institute of Management (AIM) which marked their official partnership in developing Filipino leaders in the global maritime industry.
Ms. Gloria Uriarte and Ms. Florence Alejandre, DMMA’s President and Executive Vice President and Prof. Alberto G. Mateo Jr., Head of AIM’s School of Executive Education and Lifelong Learning (SEELL), signed the MOU on May 21, 2026 at AIM’s Aboitiz Tech Space in Makati City. Witnessing the signing ceremony, DMMA industry partners and supporters expressed their support for the collaboration.
The agreement launched the co-branding and delivery of Postgraduate Certificate in Maritime Leadership and Officer Development Program, which is one of the many programs that DMMA and AIM will initiate for the maritime industry.
AIM is the first school in Southeast Asia to receive accreditation from the US-based Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB), globally recognized as having the world’s highest standards.
Uriarte stated, “With AIM as our partner, we bring into maritime education a deeper exposure to management thinking, decision making and teamwork, and leadership practice.
This collaboration allows our students to prepare not only as future seafarers but as future officers, managers, innovators and global professionals.”
Modules on decision-making, people and conflict management, leadership simulation, inspiring teams, and leadership duties in marine environments are all included in the program.
Mateo emphasized that AIM is fully committed to bringing in their best faculty and methodology of teaching to ensure that they will continue to produce future-ready maritime leaders.
“We really want to develop Filipino maritime leaders ready to actually conquer the world.”
Through the DMMA and AIM’s expertise in maritime and executive education, the Philippines is well-positioned to bringing more leaders and marine officers to the global shipping industry.
